Cabernet Sauvignon grapes from our Bethany and Rowland Flat vineyards were harvested in early April 2022. Fermented in open vessels, gently pressed with a Water Bag press, and matured for 18 months in French oak, the wine embodies classic Barossa traits: rich, earthy, and bold, yet balanced and built for longevity.

Wine Orbit August 2023 – Sam Kim
“The 2022 Sobels Cabernet Sauvignon is sweetly ripe and inviting, with blackcurrant, thyme, subtle spice, and a hint of hazelnut on the nose. The palate carries ripe fruit and spicy nuances, supported by a firm, robust finish.”
Taste Description
Colour
Deep ruby with purple edges.
Nose
Blackberry fruit, subtle eucalypt notes, and soft earthiness.
Palate
Structured and elegant, ripe blackberry and cassis, with a savoury undercurrent of thyme. Firm tannins lead into a long and firm, classic Barossa-style finish.
Vintage Conditions
The 2022 vintage in the Barossa offered favourable conditions for Cabernet Sauvignon. Winter rainfall provided strong soil moisture, encouraging even budburst, while a mild spring supported healthy canopy development and good fruit set.
Summer remained warm without excessive heat, preserving natural acidity and flavour definition. A long, dry autumn allowed fruit from Bethany and Rowland Flat to ripen steadily, producing Cabernet Sauvignon with concentrated black fruit, fine tannins, and excellent ageing potential.
