The Prof Shiraz Zinfandel 2023 is a bold, premium Barossa red named in tribute to Barritt Vineyards founder and winemaker, Greg Barritt - affectionately known as “The Prof” for his distinguished career as a professor of biochemistry. Blending the bold fruit of Shiraz with the spice and depth of Zinfandel, this wine delivers richness, power and structure in a classic Barossa style. Matured for two years in American and Hungarian oak, it is a confident, full-bodied red with a smooth, well-rounded finish, crafted to honour tradition, longevity and excellence.

Taste Description
Colour
Deep, inky crimson with dark garnet hues.
Nose
Intense aromas of blackberry, blueberry and dark cherry, layered with hints of smoke, spice and gentle oak.
Palate
Full-bodied and powerful, showing rich dark fruit flavours supported by spice, subtle smokiness and integrated oak. Firm yet polished tannins provide structure, while extended oak maturation delivers a smooth, rounded and lingering finish.
Vintage Conditions
The 2023 Barossa growing season produced excellent conditions for full-bodied red wines, with warm days encouraging flavour concentration and cooler periods supporting balance and structure. Dry conditions throughout the season reduced disease pressure, allowing fruit to ripen evenly.
Carefully managed vineyards and optimal harvest timing delivered fruit of depth, power and intensity - ideally suited to extended oak maturation and the creation of a bold, traditional Barossa red.
