Walter Shiraz 2023 is a premium, single-vineyard Barossa Shiraz named in honour of Walter Barritt — one of two individuals to whom Barritt Vineyards owes its origins. Walter planted vines at Lyndoch in 1889, laying the foundation for generations of winemaking in the Barossa.
Rich and expressive, this wine is crafted from Barritt Vineyards’ Contours Shiraz vines grown across the Bethany and Krondorf parishes. Matured for two years in a combination of American and French oak, it is a full-bodied, traditional Barossa Shiraz, offering power, depth and a smooth, enduring finish.

Taste Description
Colour
Deep crimson with dark ruby hues.
Nose
Lifted aromas of blackberry and blueberry, layered with subtle florals and hints of toasted nut and integrated oak.
Palate
Full-bodied and richly textured, showing concentrated dark fruit flavours supported by oak influence and fine, lingering tannins. Smooth, powerful and well-balanced, with excellent structure and length.
Vintage Conditions
The 2023 Barossa growing season provided favourable conditions for producing full-bodied red wines of depth and structure. Warm days encouraged flavour concentration, while cooler periods supported balance and tannin development.
Dry conditions throughout the season reduced disease pressure and allowed for even ripening. The resulting fruit delivered intensity, structure and refinement - ideally suited to extended oak maturation and a classic Barossa Shiraz style.
